Website Hits Delivery – Flow Control
In the past 12 months alone, more than 20000 new members have signed up to 247TrafficPro.com. That’s twenty thousand new members, never in the history of 247TrafficPro.com have we had such a fantastic growth. We deliver 200000 (two hundred thousand) website hits, and millions of ad impressions every single day. The site has grown from a medium to a very large traffic exchange in the last 12 months.
This of course means we’re faced with unique challenges, unique to large exchanges, the past 6 months has been a intensive period development wise to accommodate for the growth and prepare for an even higher growth.
One of the big challenges we faced is the extremely fast hits delivery and the sheer number of hits one single url can receive within 24 hours. In this respect 247TrafficPro.com really is in the top. While all this is good, nothing is worse than receiving 10 hits a URLs a day in my opinion and its been our goal to be a high volume traffic exchange, the challenge lies in the rate the hits are delivered within a few seconds. During peak hours we can deliver several hits a second to the same URL, and this poses potential problems. Many trackers are simply unable to keep up with the problems associated with that.
We’ve had a maximum credits pr hour system where our members can specify the maximum of hits they want to receive within one hour, however, that didn’t solve the extremely fast delivery rate. Say you set this value to 60, meaning you want 60 hits an hour. That’s all fine, and we’ll deliver maximum 60 an hour. The problem is once again, the extremely fast delivery rate because of the high number of surfers we have any time during the day would deliver the website hits within a few short minutes, if even that long. Most trackers would simply not keep up, and delivering hits this fast simply might not be prefered.
Now, let me introduce you to the solution! We have implemented a flow-control system for URLs that have a CPH value! This means, instead of delivering everything as fast as possible, we will now spread the delivery across the hour, resulting in a much more harmonious delivery, that the trackers can keep up with, you’ll also experience a significant increase in unique hits depending on the value you set. Our recommended value is 30.
There are some that would debate if this is good from a branding standpoint, where the argument is that the more the same person sees the ad, the higher the conversion ratio we believe this is solved by simply increasing the CPH value to a high number, or simply leaving CPH to 0. The flow control is ONLY enabled for urls that have a CPH value. For this reason, we have changed our recommendation from having a cph of 0, to 30 for new members/urls.
There is of course no “one solution for all” the key is tracking your results with advertising and adjusting CPH and others accordingly.
This feature is still in beta/early implementation, and we will do adjustments where needed to improve this system. We’ve chosen to go with simplicity for our members and integrated this seamlessly, where the alternative would be to have a separate configuration option for this.
We hope you all enjoy this new benefit, please do report any errors etc. HitLink.com will have a much needed similar feature soon as well.
If your one of those who track your results, check it out, set a CPH value to 15 – 30 and adjust up/down from there, if you feel your receiving website hits to fast and don’t have any CPH value, login and set it to 15 – 30.
Like I mentioned, Flow control has only been added to URLs that have a CPH value for now at least. If this is something you think would benefit URLs with no CPH value, let us know your opinion on this.
